Nike Sues Wisconsin Firm
NEW YORK (May 17, 2005) - Nike is suing a Wisconsin retailer for trademark counterfeiting and infringement.
The Beaverton, Ore.-based company said in a recent civil-action suit that it was alerted that Jack L. Marcus Inc. was selling counterfeit product at its store in Milwaukee.
Nike argued that the trademarks used by JLM are identical or substantially indistinguishable from Nike’s registered trademarks.
“JLM’s acts are likely to cause confusion and mistake among consumers,” the company said.
Nike is seeking to retain all profits gained by the sale of the alleged counterfeit product, as well as additional unspecified damages.
